I see you seeing me.  In experiencing another, we experience ourselves.

Ruella Frank

I attended Rutgers School of Social Work for my masters, concentrating in clinical practice.  I hold an active Clinical Social Work license (LCSW) in the states of New Jersey and Connecticut.

I attended a 3-year postgraduate training program at the Gestalt Therapy Institute of Philadelphia (GTIP).  Since then, I have attended training weekends in EMDR and trauma
sensitive yoga in therapy as well as webinars in somatic and structural dissociation approaches to complex trauma.

I have worked as a therapist in a local, non-profit community mental health outpatient clinic, providing experientially-based individual, family and group therapy to people across the life span with issues including trauma, stress, anxiety, grief, loss, relationship issues, family conflict, substance abuse, and coping with serious mental illness.  I have also served as a supervisor and assessment coordinator providing clinical supervision to therapists and counselors and overseeing the intake process.  In addition, I have worked in a partial care setting leading therapy groups and providing individual and family therapy.

I have a lifelong love of poetry, writing, and other languages.  I write and translate poetry.  I attended Swarthmore as an undergraduate, concentrating in comparative literature, and

received a PhD in American Poetry from Princeton.

I see my therapy work and engagement with writing as interrelated:  in expressing ourselves, we know ourselves and create ourselves, and each other.  I have led a poetry

therapy group and a Gestalt artists and writers group, presented on Gestalt and writing, and provided Gestalt writing coaching to creative writers, a self-help author, and an academic.  Writing can also be a tool in individual therapy.

I have been a Buddhist practitioner for many years and also have an active yoga practice.  These are complementary with my holistic, present-centered approach.

"Molly is such a warm and calming person. It is very easy to talk with her.  Her experience and knowledge are immediately evident. "

"My daily life is changed after several EMDR sessions with Molly.  Years of trauma have been erased.  The way I live and feel every day is dramatically improved.  I have a chance at a real life again."
